If you are a young couple looking to bond more, don't buy this book! My husband and I are newlyweds, so we bought this book to avoid major mistakes with our marriage. Well, my husband got a few pages into the first chapter and remarked that the author thinks a great deal of himself. I agreed, but I continued to read the book, since we already bought it, and I found the chapters to be full of negativity and anger. There only appears to be one ongoing conflict, and it involves an outdated situation of a housewife that nags incessantly at her husband over chores while verbally abusing her husband and spending his money. I can't relate to these situations, and I find many of the female perspectives in this book to be comically exaggerated stereotypes at best and dangerously ill informed at worst.

Except for the author's (justifiable?) arrogance, this is a great book and resource for couples. And it's dude-friendly - Nick is currently reading it and not complaining (too much). Read full review
