QUARTERS The commission is housed in one of the temporary war structures at Twentieth and D Streets NW., and by reason of its location and condition of the building is seriously handicapped in its work. To facilitate trial and investigatory work and in the interest of economy, small branch offices are maintained at New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, and Seattle. FISCAL AFFAIRS Appropriations available to the commission for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1926, under the executive and sundry civil act, approved March 3, 1925, amounted to $1,008,000. This sum was made up of three separate items: (1) $50,000 for salaries of the commissioners, (2) $940,000 for the general work of the commission, and (3) $18,000 for printing and binding. Expenditures and liabilities for the year amounted to $994,957.02, which leaves a balance of $13,042.98. This represents the balance in the lump-sum appropriation.
