7. Petitioner is gainfully employed at Ve Ting Manufacturing Corporation in Valenzuela City and is not a burden to the Philippine Government and to the Chinese Government.

8. Petitioner is able to speak and write English and Filipino.

9. When they came of school age, petitioner enrolled his children in private schools recognized by the Department of Education Culture and Sports (now Department of Education) where Philippine history, government and civics are taught or prescribed as part of the school curriculum during the entire period of his residency here in the Philippines, viz:

(a) Stevenson Tan took his elementary and high school education at Chiang Kai Shek College (Manila) and graduated with a Degree in BS Manufacturing Engineering and Management on 22 May 1998 in De La Salle University-Manila; and

(b) Stephanie Jane Tan and Stephen Joshua Tan finished their elementary and secondary education at Philippine Academy of Sakya (Manila).

Petitioner has none of the disqualification that could bar him from becoming a naturalized Filipino.

10. Petitioner is not opposed to organized government nor is he affiliated with any association or group of persons who uphold and teach doctrines opposing all organized governments.

11. Petitioner does not defend or teach the necessity or propriety of violence, personal assault or assassination for the success and predominance of his ideas.

12. Petitioner is married to only one wife and is not a polygamist or a believer in the practice of polygamy.

13. Petitioner has never been involved in any crime or convicted of any crime involving moral turpitude.

14. Petitioner is of sound and disposing mind and is definitely not suffering from mental alienation or incurable contagious disease.

15. Petitioner continues to mingle socially with Filipinos and evinces sincere desire to learn and embrace Filipino customs, traditions and ideals.

16. Petitioner is not a citizen or subject of a nation at war with the Philippines.

17. Petitioner is not a citizen or subject of a foreign country whose laws does not grant Filipinos the right to become naturalized citizens or subject thereof.

18. Petitioner is exempt from the requirements of filing a Declaration of Intention one (1) year prior to the filing of the petition for admission to Philippine Citizenship because he is a resident of this country for more than thirty (30) years before the filing of this petition.

19. Petitioner in good faith has the purest intention to become a Filipino citizen and to renounce absolutely and forever his allegiance and fidelity to any foreign state or sovereignty particularly to China at which time he is a citizen and that he undertakes that he will reside continuously in the Philippines from the date of the filing of this petition up to the time of his admission to Philippine citizenship.

20. In support of his petition, petitioner hereby attached the affidavits of his

witnesses whose names and addresses are set forth therein with reservation to present more during trial if necessary.

PRAYER

WHEREFORE PREMISES CONSIDERED, it is most respectfully prayed for that after due proceedings petitioner having all the qualifications and none of the disqualifications a decree be issued granting him Philippine Citizenship.

OTHER RELIEFS just and equitable under the premises are also prayed for.

1. I am a police officer and stationed at Station 11, MPD, Binondo, Manila since 1995;

2. As a line beat from 1995-2007, 1 patrolled the streets within the jurisdiction of Station 11 in Binondo;

3. I came to know Mr. Sy Santiago Lao, or more popularly and simply known as "Santy" during my beats;

4. Every time we see each other in the streets of Binondo or anywhere else for that matter, we greet each other in Filipino and sometimes we talk briefly of something about the community;

5. Since I frequently see or meet him once or twice a week, I became familiar with Santy and I came to know that he is a good natured person;

6. In 2007, I was assigned as Subpoena and Warrant Server at the warrant section of said station;

7. In all my years as policeman very familiar with the place in and around Station 11 in Binondo and many of the residents therein, I have neither heard of any complaint against Santy nor any trouble or commotion that he got involved;

8. I am executing this affidavit to attest to the truth of the foregoing and for whatever legal purpose this may serve.
