Several papers read at the NEWARK CONGRESS, among which are Mr. Pettigrew's on Newstead Abbey, the Rev. Mr. Dimock on the History of the Collegiate Church of Southwell, Mr. Ashpitel on the Architecture of the same, Mr. Ashpitel on Lincoln Cathedral, Mr. O'Connor on the Painted Glass in Lincoln Cathedral, Mr. Baily on St. Mary Notts, also on the Church of Worksop, the papers on Newark Church and Castle, etc., are unavoidably deferred until the succeeding Journals, that they may be accompanied by their proper illustrations. The account of GERARD'S HALL CRYPT, and the Engravings, illustrative of it by Le Keux from drawings taken by Mackenzie, are postponed for want of room; but the City Antiquities will be resumed as soon as possible. Mr. Burkitt's notice of the recent excavations near the Roman Wall on Tower Hill, will be found in the present number. The PUBLIC MEETINGS of the Association to which visitors are admitted, will recommence on Wednesday Evening, the 10th of November, at half-past eight o'clock precisely, at 32, Sackville Street, and be continued on the 24th of November, and the 8th of December in the present year; and the papers which time would not permit the reading of at the Congress, will be brought forward, including those of the Rev. Mr. Gourrier on Palæography, the Rev. Mr. Hodgkinson on Stone Pillars and Wayside Crosses, Mr. Briggs on the discovery of Roman Remains at St. Margaret's Bay, Mr. Cresswell on Inscriptions upon Bells in Nottinghamshire, the Rev. Mr. Kell on the discovery of Coins and other relics at Newport, Isle of Wight, Mr. Lynch on inedited Letters of Pope Innocent XI and Lewis XIV, Mr. T. Carlyle on notices of the Early History of the Family of Carlyle, the Rev.
