A young Englishman who had fled to Paris, to forget in its distractions a fickle lady-love, found one day in the Bois de Boulogne an odd ring with a mysterious inscription inside it. His ambition is to write novels some day, and he evolves a whole story out of the ring, of love and infidelity and wrong done a beautiful woman, which the book proves to be in a measure true. He finds the heroine of the ring and loves her, and becomes involved in the meshes of her adventurer husband, before he knows he is her husband. *McDonald, D: A treatise on the powers and duties of justices of the peace, mayors, marshals, and constables in the state of Ind., and on substantive law and procedure, with practical forms and citations.
