THE BOOKSELLERS' LEAGUE,

Organized February, 1895.

The Booksellers League aims to cultivate the fraternal relations of its members and to further the interests of their respective callings.

Persons more than eighteen years of age, of good moral character, connected with the book and stationery trades, and associate branches, and such other persons as the Board of Managers may deem proper to admit, may become members. The dues are at the rate of 25 cents a month, payable semi-annually in advance on the first days of April and October.

Meetings are held monthly, except during June, July, August, and December, at Hardman Hall, 4 W. 19th Street, New York. The next Smoker will be held May 15, 8 P.M. Dr. W. A. P. Martin, Professor Emeritus of the Imperial College of Pekin, China, will deliver an address on Publishing and Bookselling in China" which he will illustrate with specimens of Chinese book-making.

The Secretary keeps on file for the use of members of the League, The Publishers' Weekly and other trade journals. HENRY HOLT & Co. will shortly publish a translation of 'La Musique et les Musiciens" by Albert Lavignac. They also announce W. Fraser Rae's biography of Richard Brinsley Sheridan. It is to be in two volumes and to include portraits and fac-simile autographs of Sheridan and his famous contemporaries. Interesting documents written by the Prince of Wales, Sheridan, the Duke of Wellington, and the Marquis of Wellesley will be made public for the first time. The introduction is by the Marquis of Dufferin and Ava, who is a greatgrandson of Sheridan.
