Fund for the Improvement of Fisheries in Scotland. Bounties and Privileges, &.c.

HE Crown, by Letters-patent under the Great Seal, is to establish a Method whereby the Funds due by 5 Geo. I. cap. 20. (In Equivalent) for Improvement of the Fisheries and Manufactures in Scotland, fhall be applied according to the 15th Article of the Union. 13 Geo. I. § 1. p. 1.-TheCrown to authorise Commiffioners for managing the Application of thefe Funds.-The Receiver-General of the Crown-rents to be Cafhier.-The Treasury fhall order Payment of Money due for promoting (N 2)

the Fishery to the Cashier, without Fee.-The Com miffioners fhall annually, at Christmas, make up an Account of the Monies received and iffued, and a Report of the State of the Fund, which they fhall, within Thirty Days, lay before the King, and Copies of the fame before the Committee of the Convention of Royal Boroughs.-The Commiffioners yearly, at Christmas, fhall lay before the King fuch Alterations as they fhall judge expedient, for improving the faid Fisheries and Manufactures. 13 Geo. THE King impowered to grant Letters-patent to incorporate a Society, by the Name of the Society of the Free British Filhery, for Twenty-one Years,with Power to choose their Governor and other Officers, to continue in Office for three Years,-and to make Laws for their own Regulation, and for the Management of that Trade, and for curing, forting, and packing their White Herrings, &c. 23 Geo. II. p. 11. 12. The Society impowered to raise a Capital of 500,000l. Sterling, and to make Calls for Payment of the Subfcriptions, which are to be paid into the Bank of England. Three per cent. for the Sums employed in the Fishery to be paid to the Society for fourteen Years.-An Account of the faid Sums, attefted upon Oath, to be given annually to the Commiflioners of the Cuftoms.-100,000l. to be employed in the Fisheries within Eighteen Months from the Date of the Subfcription. The Accounts to be laid before Parliament.-Loffes to be made good by the fucceeding Years Gains.-Sums contracted to be paid in fix Months, deemed to be employed. No Transfer to be made of the faid Stock for Five Years. 23 Geo. II. p. 13. 14. 15. 16.

tions of this Bounty: the Veffel or Bufs must be built in Britain, and proceed on the faid Fishery, from fome Port in Britain, and go to certain Sta tions to fish, and continue certain limited Times, c. 23 Geo. II. p. 18. 19. 20.

EACH Bufs must have on board a certain Quantity of Salt, in proportion to the Fifh it can carry, and a certain Quantity of Nets, &c.

ALL Veffels of Twenty Tons burden to have on board, at their Rendezvous, Six Men, &c.Officer of the Customs to go on board every Vessel at her Return to Great Britain, to view her Condition and Lading, who is to certify the fame, with the Tonnage, &c.-The Mafter must make Oath that his Veffel was at one of the Places before mentioned, &c.-A Certificate inuft be tranfmitted to the Commiffioners, from whence the Veffel departed, who are to cause Payment to be made to the Owners thereof, at the Rate of 30s. per Ton.-A Bounty of 30 s. per Ton to be paid yearly for Fourteen Years. 23 Geo. THIS Act fhall not exclude any of his Majefty's, Subjects from carrying on the White-Herring Fifhe-, ry.-Perfons fubfcribing 10,000 l. under the Name of the Fishing Chamber, fhall carry on the Fishery on their own Account; and fhall, on complying with certain requifite Formalities, be intitled to receive 34 per cent. per annum.-Thefe Fishing hambers to receive no Benefit from the Trade of the society. The Receiver-General to pay 3 per cent. yearly to the Society in London, who are to pay the fame to the Fishing Chambers. 23 Geo Il p. 25. 26. 27... THE Society of the Free British Fishery fhall receive 31. per cent. on the Sums employed by them. The Oaths taken under the laft Act, as to the. Time for Rendezvous, &c. are to be conform to the Kalendar

Kalendar now in Ufe.-The Society not intitled to the Bounty, if the Veffel return with fewer Hands than fhe is required to have at the Rendezvous.-The Veffel may put into Port between the Intervals of the Fisheries.-The Second Fleet of Nets may be of any Depth, not under Five Fathoms. The Quantity of White Herrings fent to Foreign Markets, without being firft brought into Port, to be afcertained on Oath of the Society's Superintendant, &c. Veffels rendezvousing at Kirkwall intitled to the Bounties-No Veffel obliged to carry to the latter Fishing above One Fleet of Nets. 26 Geo. II. p. 28.-43.

THE payment made to the Society of the Free Britifh Fishery, of 3 1. per cent. Intereft on the Sum of 104,5091. Sterling, approved of and continued.Future Intereft to be computed from 22d October 1752.-Interest on Additional Sums to be paid in, are to be computed from the respective Times of Payment into the Bank. The Claufe of the A&t 23 Geo. II. which prohibits Transfers of any Part of the Society's Capital for a certain Term, is continued, under fome Exceptions, for feven Years longer.-The Allowances of 3 l. per cent. and Bounty of 30 s. per Ton, are further continued for three Years.-The Society may hire out their Buffes; but under the fame Regulations as when employed by themselves. 28 Geo. THE Fishery may be followed in any Part of the British Seas. The Forfeiture for Buffes not arriving at their Rendezvous by a certain Day, taken off; provided they took their Departure for the Rendezvous five Days before the Time limited in the laft Act, and were fitted out as the A&t directs.-The Oath to be taken by the Mafters at their Return is to be varied.-Commiffioners of the Cuftoms are to branfmit to the Receiver of the Duties for Greenwich
