A Message To The board by Capt Samuel Tibbitts with the following votes. [P. 251.]

In the House of Represen. Augst 17 1722 Voted. That Isaac Green be allowed and paid by the Town of Hampton The sum of Three Shillings pr day for forty eight days according To his oath and that The Select men of said Town of Hampton make an assessment for the same on said Town.

A Message To The board by Mr Atkinson Capt Gerrish and Capt Tibbitts with a vote for accepting The Committees report appointed To prepare Instructions for The Gentlem" who are to wait on his Excellency wch was read and non-concurred and sent down by Rich Wibird Esq. Also by him was sent down a vote of Council for accepting another Report of ye same Committee weh was returned To the board by Lt. Col° Davis [P. 252.] Capt Gerrish and Two other members non-Concurred as on file.

[From the Journal of the House.].

Instructions for the Gent. of the Committee yt are to waite on his Excellencie.

To acquaint his Exell ye Governour that this Prov. and every Town in it is so very much exposed to the Insult of the Enemy Indians, by being in a manner all frontiers, as that this Goverm

is unable to comply with his Excell Demands of sending seventy men to the Eastward, &c. But to assure him yt if the Governm of the Mass will, upon advising with this Governmt joyn in an Expedition agst the enemy at Winnipisokee Pond, Osapee, Picwaket, & at ye head of Merrymak as Conega? &c. this Governm will readily & cheerfully joyne with them to the number of men mentioned in his Excellences letter, which Expeditions may both annoy the enemy and cover the Frontiers of the Mass on Merrymack river & this Province at the same time. But this Province lying under much the same circumstances and altogether as much exposed to the incursions of the Enemy as that part of the county of York, viz. York, Berwick, Kittery & Wells, and his Excellencie having tho't it proper not only to exempt the towns abovesaid from any expedition formed agst the Indians beyond the bounds of s county, but have afforded them upwards of 100 men from the westward, posted there for theire security; therefore being under ye same circumstances, Pray wee may be excused sending any men into the Eastern Country upon the same consideration. The above submitted to Gen' Assembly for approbation. Theo. Atkinson, Clk. Com.

Instructions to the Gent. to be Elected to waite on his Excellencee from this Prov: to confer with him touching ye Indian Warr &c. To acquaint his Excellencie ye Govr yt this Governmt will joyne with the Massachusetts in all such Expeditions agst the Indian enemy as shall be agreed on by both Governm's, not exceeding one company of fifty men at one time; & yt this Governmt expect to be consulted about all Expeditions in which our Quota is demanded.

A Message To The House by The Clerk To require Their Attend at the board. The Speak' and house came accordingly and his hon' was pleased To make The following Speech.

Gentlemen

You have had a recess for a few days That you might The better consider of what I laid before you at our last Sitting and more Especially That part of it wch relates to The sending our Quota of men To The Eastward to joyn with our Neighbors of The Massachusetts [P. 253.] In Marching To The Head Quarters of The Indian Rebels & That you will freely grant Such Supplys as may be necessary for Their subsistance, in doing of which, We act but the Just part To our selves and also Cultivate a good understanding wth our neighboring Goverment who we see are most generously Entered into The present Warr.

I Flatter my self That We are all of opinion That it is our Interest to Act in Conjunction wth Them, more Especially in matters That Relate to The warr.

I Have given His Excellency our Governour an Account how

farr we had proceeded and that I had further prorogued you for a few days in hopes you would better consider Thereof, and come in To send our Quota. I have His Excellency's answer Thereon, who is greatly Surprised that you should refuse doing a Thing so much your Interest and what the greatest part of you Voted in May Session.

Robert Coates presented an Acct of Victualling labourers at Fort Wm and Mary To The board.

Ordered In Council,

That Twelve pounds be paid To The accountant in part out of the Treasury, and that The Clerk make out a Warrant accordingly, and That The Acct be laid before The Committe of Audits for Their allowance of the residue.
