The author was taken prisoner in March, 1756, near Oswego, by a party of French and Indians, and taken to Canada. After being cruelly treated by both, and carried to various parts of the country as far as Montreal, he made his escape to Quebec, where he received better treatment, and was sent to England. Thence he took ship for Boston, and reached his family in Philadelphia after an absence of twenty months. Both editions are rare, the first especially so. See Green (Ashbel), for a reprint.
