All cases reflected in the above statistics involved derogatory information coming within the criteria set out in Section 8(a)(1)(v) and 8(a)(2) through 8(a)(8) of Executive Order 10450, 27 April 1953, as amended. In explanation of (2) under Removals, five cases which initially started out in security channels were more appropriately disposed of under suitability regulations. The 272 cases listed as "jurisdiction lost" were not processed due to resignations, reductions in force, expirations of appointments, retirements, deaths, declinations of appointments, non-selection of applicants, and similar reasons. In none of these cases was separation of employees or non-appointment of applicants due to a determination of security or suitability disqualification. However, in six of the 272 cases there was significant derogatory information coming within the criteria set out in Section 8(a)(1)(v) and 8(a)(2) through (8) of Executive Order 10450, 27 April 1953, as amended. Since the inception of the Air Force Civilian Personnel Security Program in September 1948, statements of reasons have been issued to 263 employees. Disposition of these cases is as follows: 64 employees were removed as security risks; 174 were restored to their positions; 24 employees resigned after the statements of reasons were delivered to them; and one employee was separated by reduction-inforce procedures. |
