THE decision to publish the list of Best Books, 1905-6, in book form and in time for the Bradford Meeting of the Association was arrived at too late to admit of a thorough reorganisation of the system of book selection which has been in force during the last few years. The Editors, nevertheless, believe that the change in date and form of publication will prove acceptable to members, and that the present volume will form the first of a long and useful series. On the opposite page will be found the names of the contributors who are responsible for their respective sections. The lists have, with few exceptions, been printed intact; the editorial work having been confined to the formal revision and classification of the entries. The Editors recognise that the labour of compiling these lists this year has been unusually arduous, owing to the change in date of publication, and they venture to express on behalf of the Association their sincere appreciation of the value of the work done under somewhat abnormal conditions. They also beg to tender their thanks to Mr. H. V. Hopwood of the Patent Office Library for assistance given by him in the revision and indexing of the classification.
