XVIII. ITEM, The Rulers and Affiftants of XIX. Auditors to be the faid Company for the Time being, or the major Part of them, on the first Day of May, yearly and every Year, (except it falls on a Sunday, and then on the Monday next following) fhall at a Court by them to be held, choose Five Perfons, able and fit Watermen, understanding Accounts, not then being a Ruler or Ru lers of the faid Company, and Two Perfons, able and fit Lightermen, understanding Accounts, not then being a Ruler or Rulers, to be presented yearly to the Court of Lord Mayor and Aldermen, at the first Court of Aldermen that shall be holden in the Month of July then next following, to the intent that they may be examined; and if found fo fitly qualified, then to be admitted, approved, and allowed to be Auditors of the Accounts of the Rulers and others of the faid Company for the Year enfuing. But in cafe the faid Court fhall upon Examination, find them, or any of them, not as before duly qualified to ferve the faid Office of Auditor of the faid Accounts, and

fhall therefore refuse to approve and admit fuch Perfon or Perfons fo found unfit, and not duly qualified to execute the faid Trust and Office, then the faid Rulers and Affiftants of the faid Company for the Time being, or the major Part of them, fhall within Ten Days after fuch Refufal duly funimons, or caufe to be fummoned a Court of Rulers and Affiftants; and then and there other fit Perfons understanding Accounts, fhall be elected and chofen by the faid Court, instead of such as were fo found unfit, and not duly qualified as aforefaid, to ferve the said Office, and therefore rejected by the faid Court of Lord Mayor and Aldermen, as aforefaid; and shall prefent fuch Perfon or Perfons fo newly elected and chofen, to the Court of Lord Mayor and Aldermen within fourteen Days next after fuch new Choice and Election, to be examined. by the then next fubfequent Court of Aldermen, or within One Month next after fuch Prefentment as aforefaid; and if, qualified as aforefaid, then to be admitted to execute the faid Office; who when fo established, fhall examine and audit the Accounts of the Rulers and others of the faid Society and Company for the Time being, twice in every Year,

from Year to Year, as aforefaid, and oftener, if the faid general Court shall so Order: And it is further ordered, That the faid Rulers fhall upon, all Occafions that shall happen, other than what relates to the entering of Apprentices, and making them Free, or the like, fummons the faid Auditors for their Advice and' Affiftance, in the Ordering and Management of the Affairs of the faid Company; And if what the faid Auditors, or the major Part of them then present, fhall difallow in the faid Accounts, be objected against by the faid Rulers, or the Majority of them, or other fuchParticulars in fuch Accounts fo objected againft, fhall be prefented to the next general Court of Rulers and Affiftants, by them to be fettled; and if they cannot duly fettle and adjust the fame, then, upon Complaint thereof, and Appeal to the Court of Lord Mayor and Aldermen, fuch Difpute and Difference shall be there heard, in order to determine the fame, if they can, in fuch Manner as to them fhall feem juft and reasonable, for the common Good of the faid Company.

being, or refuse effectually to Prosecute any Offenders against any of the Laws or Conftitutions of this Company, when due Proof fhall appear before them; and that fuch Ruler or Rulers acting contrary hereunto, fhall, when duly convicted thereof, be dismissed from being a Ruler, and not capable of being any more elected into the faid Office, or other Employment in the faid Company.
