ITEM, If any Waterman or Lighterman shall be duly fummoned to appear, to answer any Complaint, and shall not Summons. appear, (not having a reasonable Excufe) he fhall, for fuch his Non-appearance forfeit and pay One Shilling; and on the fecond Summons forfeit and pay the Sum of Two Shillings and Sixpence; and for fuch Non-appearance, upon every subsequent Summons. not having fuch Excufe, the Sum of Five Shillings.

XXV None ITEM, That no Waterman or his Apothers paling Prentice fhall stick up and lay his Boat to or from the at his Staff, fo as to hinder and prevent Stairs. due and orderly paffing of any Boat or

ITEM, If any Waterman, or their XXVII. Apprentice, while rowing along the None rowing Shore, between Vauxhall and Limehouse) fhall ply, or take in any Fare or one about to Paffenger coming down, or standing on take Water the Stairs or Shore, as about to take Water, that have agreed, or are treating in Order to agree with a Waterman to carry them to their respective Landing, he fhall forfeit and pay, for every fuch Offence, (befides making Satisfaction to the Perfon wronged, according to the Wrong received) to the Use aforefaid, the Sum of One Shilling.

pointed by the Rulers for the Time being, or their Order, or fhall follow any Fare, when taking Water, beyond the ufual Mark appointed to reftrain them; Every Waterman, and their Apprentice offending herein, shall each of them forfeit and pay, for every fuch Offence, as aforefaid, to the Ufe aforefaid, the Sum of One Shilling; and alfo make full Satisfaction to the Perfon wronged (if any be) according to the Value of the Fare so carried.

XXIX. ITEM, If any Waterman rowing with Thoferowing with the Tide the Tide or Stream, fhall neglect to give to give others Notice or Warning (which he is hereby Notice. required to give) at a reasonable Dif

tance, to all Perfons rowing across or against the Stream or Tide; if any Damage happen, the Waterman offending fhall not only make Satisfaction for fuch Damage as the other Waterman fhall fuftain by fuch Neglect, but fhall, for every fuch Offence, further forfeit and pay, to the Use aforefaid, the Sum of One Shilling: And every Waterman who fhall interrupt, or any Ways hinder the Paffing or Landing of any of the Nobility's Barges, or other Barges carrying Paffengers, or any Tilt-boat, Row-barge, or Light-horseman, having from them refpectively due Notice given,

None Gravefend and Windfor, fhall ply any Fare to ply unless or Paffengers, except his Boat or Wherry his Boat be at be at the Stairs or Place at which they ply, in Order to receive the faid Fare or Paffengers, on Pain to forfeit and pay, as aforefaid, Five Shillings.

Long Ferry Weftward, fhall receive or None plying take in to any fmall Boat or Wherry, or Weftward to have therein above the Number of Ten Ten PafPaffengers at one Time, or fhall carry fengers. any Paflengers from the Place at which he first plied them, to any other Stairs or Place, with an Intent to ply other Paffengers, (except fuch Paffengers as ftand and call them in by the Way, or to meet fuch Paffengers as before have appointed them) every Waterman, tranf greffing in either of thofe Kinds, shall forfeit and pay, for every fuch Offence, as aforefaid, to the Ufe aforefaid, the Sum of Two Shillings and Six-pence.
