This unique copy is from the library of R. D. Edwards, Esq., of Durham, who has evidently spared no trouble or expense in forming it. Many valuable works have been sacrificed for this purpose. The engravings include examples after Constable, Haghe, Sir R. C. Hoare, Carter, Batty, etc., engraved by Basire, Finden, Cooke, Cotman, Woolnoth, Tombleson, Lucas, etc., and are moreover either proofs or excellent impressions. There are also some original drawings.

This publication is meant to complete the plan of Migne's Cursus Patrologiae by bringing forth critical texts (with a Latin translation) of all the works of Christian authors (published or unpublished) who have written in Syriac, Ethiopic, Coptic, or Arabic, referring to Liturgies, Canon Law, Theology, Philosophy, and the Lives of

the Saints.

It is intended to publish yearly four or five volumes. The price will be calculated at the rate of 10d for a sheet of text, and of 5d for a sheet of translation. Except in exceedingly few instances, the whole of the 18,000 specimens,
representing 1100 species, comprised in the collection are in perfect condition and
beautifully set out.

The collection includes selections from several continental cabinets that Mr. Leech
had purchased at various times, but chiefly from the rich collection formed by the late
Herr Mützell, of Berlin.
The special value of the collection is, however, found
in the splendid series of butterflies obtained by Mr. Leech in the course of his journeys
in China, Japan and Corea.
