DEFINITIONS

§ 53.1 Meaning of words.

Words used in this subpart in the si gular form shall be deemed to imp the plural, and vice versa, as the ca may demand. For the purposes of su regulations, unless the context otherw requires, the following terms shall construed, respectively, to mean:

(a) The Act. The Agricultural Ma keting Act of 1946 (Title II of the act Congress approved August 14, 1946, Stat. 1087, as amended by Pub. Law 2 84th Cong., 69 Stat. 553, 7 U.S.C. 162 1627).

(b) The regulations. The regulatio in this subpart.

(c) Department. The United Sta Department of Agriculture.

(d) Consumer and Marketing Servi The Consumer and Marketing Service the Department.

(e) Administrator. The Administr tor of the Consumer and Marketi Service, or any officer or employee of t Consumer and Marketing Service whom authority has heretofore be delegated, or to whom authority m hereafter be delegated, to act in his stea

(f) Division. The Livestock Divisi of the Consumer and Marketing Servi (g) Director. The Director of t Division, or any officer or employee of the Division to whom authority h heretofore been delegated, or to who authority may hereafter be delegated, act in his stead.

(h) Branch. The Meat Gradin Branch of the Division.

(i) Chief. The Chief of the Brand or any officer or employee of the Bran to whom authority has heretofore be delegated, or to whom authority m hereafter be delegated, to act in stead.

(j) Official grader. An employee the Department authorized to determi and certify or otherwise identify t class, grade, other quality, or complian of livestock or products under t regulations.

(k) Supervisor of grading. An offici grader or other person designated by t Director or Chief to supervise and mai tain uniformity and accuracy of servi under the regulations.
