meal exported in the terms of the law, whereby and fo long as rewards are granted for the exportation of other grain, and that the beer of Scotland have the fame rewards as barley: and whereas by another 5 Ann. c. 29. claufe in the faid act made in the fifth year of the reign of Queen Anne, it is enacted, That every merchant, or other perfon, exporting malt made of wheat, fhall have and receive for every quarter of malt made of wheat, or wheat malt, ground or unground, five fillings, to be paid by the refpective perfons mentioned in the faid act made in the first year of the reign of King William and Queen Mary, intituled, An act for the encouraging the exportation of corn: and whereas by an act made in the third year of the reign of his prefent Majefty, for better preventing frauds in the malting of corn for exportation, it is enacted, That there shall be paid to the malfters and makers of malt for exportation, for every twenty quarters of barley, or other corn or grain, that shall be entered and made into malt for exportation, an allowance of thirty quarters after the fame fball be dried and made into malt, and no more, upon the exportation 1 thereof, according to the faid act made in the first year of the reign of King William and Queen Mary, intituled, An act for the encouraging the exportation of corn; and in fuch cafes where by the faid at they are intitled to the fame; and fo in proportion for a greater or leffer quantity; payable in fuch manner as by the faid act made in the third year of his prefent Majefty's reign is directed: and whereas by a claufe in an act made in the twelfth and thirteenth year of the reign of King William the Third, intituled, An act for granting an aid to his Majefty for defraying the expence of his 12 & 13 W. 3. C. 10. f. 93. navy, guards and garrifons, for one year, and for other neceffary occafions; it is, amongst other things, enacted, That if the collector of the customs of any port wherein corn fhall be exported, Shall not have fufficient in his hands to fatisfy and pay fuch fum or fums of money which are or shall be due to any exporter by virtue of the faid att made in the first year of the reign of King William and Queen Mary, arifing out of the customs and duties out of which it ought to be paid, upon demand, according to the intent of the faid alt, that then fuch collector shall give to the perfon demanding fuch Jum or fums of money, without fee or reward, a certificate under bis band of what is due to fuch perfon for the corn exported from fuch port, certifying to the commiffioners of the customs at London, that he hath not monies in his hands fufficient to pay the fame; which certificate being annexed to the debenture for the corn fo exported, and being produced to his Majefty's commiffioners of the customs at London, they the faid commiffioners are thereby authorized and required, on demand, by the perfon that ball bring the fame, to caufe the monies thereby due to be paid in three months by the general receiver or cafbier of the customs, out of fuch monies as fhall be in his hand, arifing out of fuch cuftoms or duties in the faid port of London as are chargeable with the payment of any money for the exportation of corn, according to the faid all, without fee or reward, as in and by the faid feveral acts above recited or mentioned, relation being thereunto refpectively had, may more fully appear: and whereas by reafon of the great quantity of corn which of late hath been exported, the revenue

applicable to the payment of the bounty on the exportation thereof (being charged alfo with other payments) bath not been fufficient to fatisfy and pay all fuch monies due for corn exported, as by virtue of the faid act made in the twelfth and thirteenth year of the reign of King William the Third, are in manner therein mentioned, payable by the faid general receiver or cafbier of the customs; and divers debentures for fuch monies fo payable do and may for that reafon remain unfatisfied: now, for making a reasonable compensation for fuch delay of payment, and to the end that the owners and tillers of land, and the nation in general, may continue to enjoy the benefit defigned by the faid bounty on the exportation of corn, be it enacted by the King's most excellent majefty, by and with the advice and confent of the lords spiritual and temporal and commons in this prefent parliament affembled and by the authority of the fame, That if at any time from and after the remaining un. twenty fifth day of March one thoufand feven hundred and fifty fatisfied for 6 three, any debenture for the bounty on corn exported, fo paymonths to car- able by the faid general receiver or cashier of the customs, shall ry an intereft remain unfatisfied more than fix months next following the day of 31. per

when the fame (hall or may have been produced to the commiffioners of the customs at London, according to the directions of the faid act made in the twelfth and thirteenth year of the reign of King William the Third, then and in fuch cafe, for the forbearance of fuch money as, after the expiration of the faid fix months, fhall be due on fuch debenture, intereft after the rate of three pounds per centum per annum thall be allowed to the proprietor or proprietors thereof, his, her or their executors, admiftrators or affigns, fuch intereft to be computed from the end of the said fix months until the money due on fuch debenture, together with fuch intereft, fhall be paid, or until money fufficient fhall be referved in the hands of the faid general receiver or cafhier of the customs for that purpofe, and proper notice thall be given thereof.

II. And to the end that proper notice may be given that money, fufficient is referved for that purpofe, and that perfons to whom any fuch principal or intereft fhall be due, may not avail themselves of their neglect to demand the fame; be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, That when money fufficient fhall be referved in the hands of the faid general receiver or money is in hand to pay cafhier of the customs, for payment of the principal and inteoff the deben reft due on any fuch debentures, as after the expiration of the faid fix months fhall remain unfatisfied, the faid general receiver or cashier shall and may give notice in writing to be affixed on three or more doors of fome publick place or places in the cuftom house London, and to be advertized in the London Gazette, that on a certain day to be limited in the faid notice, and on the four days next following fuch day (fo as fix days at the leaft intervene between the date of fuch notice, and the day fo limited, and fo as Sundays and holidays be not included in the number of fuch four days) he fhall be ready to pay and difcharge the principal and interest due on fuch debentures; after the expiration of

VI. And be it further declared and enacted by the authority

quired, when he shall make payment of the principal money due on any such debenture, to pay also without fee or reward, the intereft which fhall be due thereon, by virtue of this act, out of fuch monies as fhall be in his hands, arising out of fuch customs or duties, as are chargeable with the payment of any money for the exportation of corn; and the monies fo paid by him, in obedience to this act, fhall be accepted of in his account, as fo much money paid to his Majefty, his heirs or fucceffors, and he shall be discharged therefrom accordingly.

VIII. And be it further declared and enacted by the authority aforefaid, That every person to whom any money shall be payable for corn exported by virtue of any fuch debenture, and his or her executors, adminiftrators or affigns, by proper words of affignment to be indorfed upon fuch debenture, may affign and transfer his or her right and intereft therein, to any other; which indorsement shall intitle fuch affignee or affignees, his, her or their executors, administrators or affigns, to the benefit thereof, and payment thereon; and fuch affignee or affignees may in like manner affign again, and fo toties quoties, at any time before payment thereof shall be made by the faid general receiver or calhier of the customs as aforefaid.

IX. And whereas by the fixth article of the treaty of union, it is provided that all parts of the united kingdom for ever, from and after the union, fhall have the fame allowances, encouragements and drawbacks, and be under the fame prohibitions, reftrictions and regulations of trade, and liable to the fame customs and duties on import and export; and that the allowances, encouragements and drawbacks, prohibitions, reftrictions and regulations of trade, and the customs and duties on import and export fettled in England, when the union commences, ball from and after the union, take place throughout the whole united kingdom; be it therefore enacted by the authority aWhere there forefaid, That if at any time, from and after the twenty fifth in hand to pay day of March one thoufand feven hundred and fifty three, the the bounty on collector of the customs at any port in that of Great Britain callcorn exported ed Scotland, from which corn fhall be exported, thall not have from Scotland, fufficient in his hand to fatisfy and pay fuch fum or fums of money, be granted; which are or shall be due to any exporter, by virtue of the laws
