The breadth of A. I. is explored and explained in this best selling text. Assuming no prior knowledge,it covers topics like neural networks and robotics. This text explores the range of problems which have been and remain to be solved using A. I. tools and techniques. The second half of this text is an excellent reference.

Standardize variables so that each quantifier binds a unique variable . Since
variables are just dummy names , this process cannot affect the truth value of the
wff . For example , the formula Vx : P ( x ) V Vx : Q ( x ) would be converted to Vx :
For example , if we want to predict the motion of a ball , we may want to consider
its mass and velocity , but probably not its color . Traditional physical models are
built up from realvalued variables , rates of change , expressions , equations ...
Equations Expressions and variables can be linked to one another via equations
. The simplest equation states that variable x increases as variable y increases .
This gives us an abstract representation of the actual function relating x and y ( it

very poor book for novice.Assumes u already know AI and the language is not at all user friendly. One has to read a sentence repeatedly to get a grasp and some times even then u don't understand.Go for other books much better than this
