THE former volume contained those Sermons which had for their theme the everlasting being and perfections of God, and their manifestation by Him to man; the incarnation, the work, and the sacrifice of Christ, and the nature, progress, and final establishment of His kingdom upon earth. The present series begins with man, viewed first as God created him, then as fallen and again redeemed; and, in this character, as made the servant of his Saviour in a new course of inward life and outward duties. These Sermons are, however, naturally more miscellaneous as to their subjects than those in the former volume; and the Editor's chief object has been to give a specimen of the Author's manner of treating each great topic of discourse.
