George Fox was the founder of the Society of Friends or Quakers. In the course of his public ministrations he visited America twice, where he spent two years.

He was

a voluminous writer. A list of his works fills no less than fifty-one pages in Smith's "Catalogue of Friends' Books." London. 1867. 2 vols., 8vo. Charles Lamb speaks highly of Fox's writings.
