dedicated to you by its Author the late Mr. Richard Hayes, and being now methodized, augmented, and improved by me, I thought I could do no less than inscribe this new Edition of it to you, as I may venture to lay .equal Claim with him to your Patronage and Protection. For as he had the Honour to instruct you in Penmanship and Accounts, so I had the same in being entrusted by you with the Education of one of your Sons in those important Branches of Literature, so essential to form the Man of Business.
