<< There is no attempting to give the Prices of any of the Productions that we met with, for the Chinese are the most notorious cheats, and the most difficult to deal with of any people in the world, they at first asked 25 spanish dollars, for a buffaloe, which we afterwards got for nine, the animal weighing when ready to be dressed from three to four hundredweight, and we latterly got 12 ducks for a dollar which at first we,paid the same price for four, everything else in proportion, except Pine Apples, which never exceeded a dollar for 100 and they were extremely good, their other fruits are Water Melons, Jacks, Cocoa Nuts, Limes and Bananas; there are very few vegetables, the sweet Potatoe, a very small Onion, Garlic, Cucumbers and Pumkins were the only ones we knew. >
