THE "Customs Consolidation Act," 20th August 1853, and the Supplemental Customs Consolidation Act," 14th August 1855, and the "Customs Amendment Act," 25th August 1857, are registered in the Royal Courts of the Islands of Guernsey and Jersey respectively. The following is the interpretation of the terms used in the "Customs Consolidation Act," for the purposes of that act : "Assistant Barrister," with respect to matters or proceedings in the County of Dublin, is to be construed as meaning the Chairman of Kilmainham, and, with respect to matters or proceedings in the City of Dublin, as meaning the Recorder of the City of Dublin: 66 Attorney-General" includes Solicitor-General, or other chief Law Officer of the Crown, in any of Her Majesty's Possessions abroad, where there is no Attorney-General: "British Possession" includes colony, plantation, island, territory, or settlement, belonging to Her Majesty: "Channel Islands" means the Islands of Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney, and Sark: "Collector and Comptroller," generally, wherever any act, matter, or thing is or may be required by the "Customs Consolidation Act," or any other Act of Parliament, to be done by or with the Collector and Comptroller of any part or place, the same may be done by or with the Collector or Comptroller, or other principal acting officer of Customs, at such port or place, and is as valid and effectual as if done by or with any Collector and Comptroller.
