The church of Kynedward was given to the abbey of Saint Mary of Deir, by John Cumyn earl of Buchan, between the years 1289 and 1306; and the grant was confirmed by King Robert I. (Robertson's Index to the Charters, p. 1.)

Alexander Cumyn earl of Buchan gave to the Hospital of Saint Congan, which he founded at Turreff, in the year 1273, two chalders of meal and three chalders of malt, to be paid yearly by his constable of Kennedor, in lieu of the tithes of that castle.
