APPROVAL OF MAPS OF NEW LINES AND EXTENSION.

Application was received by the Railroad Crossing Board from the Benton Harbor Terminal Railway for approval of map of their proposed line in Benton Harbor showing a crossing over the tracks of the Michigan Central Railroad at Ninth and Oak streets. Hearing on said application was held before said board at Lansing, April 24, the decision of the Crossing Board being held open pending personal inspection of the premises in question, which was had May 9. The matter is still pending.

Application having been received from the Detroit & Mackinac Railway company by the board of Railroad Crossings for approval of map of the Hillman extension of the Detroit & Mackinac Railway in Montmorency county, said map was duly approved by said board at a meeting held April 10, 1907.

On application of the Detroit River Tunnel company, map showing proposed route of that company was approved by the Railroad Crossing Board January 13, 1907.

On application of the Detroit Terminal Railroad company, map showing its proposed line from Detroit river to Jefferson avenue was approved by the Railroad Crossing Board January 13, 1907.

Application was received from the Grand Rapids Terminal Belt Railway company for approval of maps of their proposed route. Hearing thereon was held before the Railroad Crossing Board May 8, at which time all parties in interest were heard and the matter was held open pending personal inspection of the premises in question. The matter is still pending.

On application of the Detroit United Railway company the crossing of the spur track of the Michigan Central by its additional track in Biddle avenue, Wyandotte, was approved, August 29, 1907.

On application of the Grand Rapids & Indiana Railway company, its map showing the proposed route of the Michelson extension of said company through the counties of Missaukee and Roscommon was approved, December 3, 1907, it being ordered that said company should construct and maintain reasonably safe crossings over each of the highways shown on the said map.

Petition having been duly filed with the Board of Railroad Crossings by the Chicago & Kalamazoo Terminal Railroad company asking for the approval of an amended map showing an amended location of the route of the main line of said railroad in the city of Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo county, commencing at the south line of Main street and extending southerly to the south corporation line, showing crossings of the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Railway company's main line and spur track, three spur tracks of the Chicago, Kalamazoo & Saginaw Railway company and the main line of the Grand Rapids & Indiana Railway company, hearings and inspections in connection therewith were held and an order of the Crossing Board was issued June 26, 1907, approving said map on the following conditions: The crossing with the spur track of the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern to be at grade. The crossing of the main line of the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern to be at grade. The crossing of the Stove Works spur of the Chicago, Kalamazoo & Saginaw Railway company to be at grade. The crossing of the Chicago,

Kalamazoo & Saginaw company's Vine street spur to be at grade. The crossing of the Grand Rapids & Indiana main line to be an undergrade crossing, with a clearance of 20 feet. The crossing of the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern spur track to be protected according to plans to be approved by the Commissioner of Railroads. The crossing of the main line of the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern and the spur track of the Chicago, Kalamazoo & Saginaw to be protected by a full interlocking and derailing switch. The crossing of the Chicago, Kalamazoo & Saginaw Railway company's spur track at Vine street to be protected by a gate normally set against the movements of trains on said spur.

GRADE CROSSING ORDERS.

The following table shows all the orders issued by the Commissioner of Railroads between January 1 and September 28, 1907, and by the Michigan Railroad Commission between September 30 and December 31, 1907, with reference to protection at grade crossings of highways and streets by railroads in the State of Michigan:
