A Question Of Intent: A Great American Battle With A Deadly Industry (edition 2002)by David KesslerA Question Of Intent is a thrilling true life tale of ethical people, led by pediatrician and lawyer David Kessler, then FDA director, who took on the evil schemers running the tobacco industry. I read the book over ten years ago in hopes of gleening insight as to how to take on the medical industry. If only I had been in a place of power, I could have skewered them. I would love to see AQOI gain in popularity. It's an inspiring page turner filled with compelling characters and the fight of a lifetime that exposes the crud of dirty politics, no surprise there. Breakdown of the battle within the FDA & the Government to classify Tobacco as a drug, thus letting it fall under the watchful jurisdiction of the FDA. And the massive fight Big Tobacco put up to keep this from happening. Informative and eye opening. And an excellent fundamental question to ask - how can you not call Tobacco a food or a drug? |
